about

Massimo De Mattia - flutes
Zlatko Kaučič - voice, drums, percussion
Giorgio Pacorig - piano
Luigi Vitale - vibes, marimba, percussion

"Domicide," the latest venture by Massimo De Mattia's Suonomadre, marks a pivotal evolution in their discography, distinct from their earlier works "Riot" and “Ethnoshock!" (Caligola ) by its deliberate shift towards a purely acoustic setup and its studio production — a first for the ensemble.
By moving away from the electronic experimentation that characterized "Riot" and "Ethnoshock!", "Domicide" presents a raw, unfiltered auditory experience that lays bare the musicians' virtuosity and the intensity of their message. The use of acoustic instruments intensifies the political undercurrents of the album, offering a stark, poignant soundscape that reflects on the theme of loss and displacement. This strategic choice amplifies the ensemble's exploration of jazz as a medium for social and political commentary, inviting listeners to engage with the music on a deeply reflective level.
The album's title, "Domicide," suggests themes of disruption and transformation, possibly reflecting on the impact of external changes on personal and communal spaces and it's laden with implications, suggesting a critique of the destruction of homes, whether through physical, social, or economic means, pointing towards a broader commentary on contemporary societal issues.
Through this album, Suonomadre not only showcases their evolution as artists but also emphasizes the power of music as a form of resistance and a catalyst for change.
